Youth Band
WAITAKERE YOUTH BAND AND TRAINING PROGRAM
The band is proud to announce that we now have a Youth Band which will become the training ground for our star players of the future!
Launched at our Toys for Kids Concert in August 2008 the band now is established and meets on a Monday evening (term time only) at our New Lynn band room. The Trusts Waitakere Brass Band is recognized as one of Australasia’s premiere A-Grade bands. The band is run by qualified and experienced musicians.
The
Waitakere Youth Band and Training Program is designed to get young people
involved in banding in a fun and stimulating way. Children from 7 years of
age can start learning through the program. A wide range of experience is
catered for, from complete beginners with no musical experience through to
accomplished musicians. New To Brass Instruments? If your child is a
complete beginner but would love to start to play a brass instrument our
youth band is the perfect place, especially as we are still in the growth
phase of building the band. We can provide instrument hire, weekly lessons
and theory tuition all for a small charge of $30 per week, payable at the
beginning of each term. This is a great way to start learning a brass
instrument without bearing the cost of purchasing an instrument for your
child as these can be thousands of dollars to buy. Already learning an
instrument? That’s great, if you are already learning a brass instrument at
school or via a private tutor that’s fine you can still join our band.
Simply come along and play with the band and carry on your own lessons as
normal. A small subscription charge of $5 per week will be charged for
students not learning through the Waitakere Training Program.
